Remember my last post? Where I talked about what I need to do for this batch of projects and how I’m excited to finish everything? Yeah, that didn’t happen. I’ve had a few accidents at my LYS recently.
For one thing, I had a huge craving for some sock knitting. I didn’t have any on my needles and I really haven’t for a long time. The Socktopia socks were “in progress” because they needed reinforcement, but I hadn’t actually knit on them for months. The urge got to be to much, so my fiance said we could pick up some sock yarn if I went onĀ an afternoon winter hike with him. Of course, I agreed. I picked out some lovely Rio de la Plata variegated sock yarn. We’ve carried this yarn for some time now but I hadn’t had a chance to work with it yet. The yarn itself isn’t too exciting, but the colors are quite pretty. I’m making the Conwy socks from Nancy Bush’s Knitting on the Road. I’m into the calf shaping and it’s looking pretty nice so far.
I meant to just grab some sock yarn, but we ended up picking out some brown Blue Sky Alpaca sport to make my fiance a new hat. He practically collects the things–I can’t make him enough! This one was a simple Cashmere Ribbed Hat from Fig and Plum. I say was because I finished it the morning after I cast on. It’s a great fit and he really likes it, although he can’t get over how light weight it is.
Apparently that trip to the yarn store wasn’t enough for me. When I worked last night I had to pick up some Baby Ull for Eunny Jang’s Endpaper Mitts. I’m finished with the first chart and they look really nice with a baby blue as the main color and navy blue as the contrast. They’re soft and I think they will fit just perfectly. A great accessory to wear while I’m at work in the yarn shop.
In other news, my camera is experiencing technical difficulties. Hopefully my next post will have some pictures in it.
