Does this look like a good idea to you?

She is actually undoing an entire ball of malabrigo laceweight that she had wound into a double strand ball. Actually, it’s two entire balls: one of each color. In case you haven’t seen malabrigo laceweight, there are a lot of yards in one skein. So when you’re not only winding it up, but also untangling the mess from winding it into a double strand ball, it takes a really long time.
After a while I stopped laughing and put down the camera to help her out. We got a system down with her on one side of the counter untwisting the original ball and me on the other side very slowly turning both ballwinder handles. The first skein took us approximately an hour. Hopefully it will be worth it, as the citrus color pictured above as well as another skein of deep red are destined to become some gorgeous, soft Anemoi mittens.
