Hats for the Guys

January 3, 2011

To continue the parade of officemate hats that I began yesterday, here’s what I made for the guys.

For the officemate who would rather be tromping around outside than writing inside.

Pattern: Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Very Warm Hat from Knitting Around
Yarn: Järbo Garn Raggi #1550 and #1503, less than a skein each
Needles: US 6
Made for: PE
Timeline: November 14-28, 2010
Modifications: None
Worst Part: Weaving in the final ends without letting them show through
Best Part: He’s wearing it every time I see him!

For the farmboy in the ‘big city.’

Pattern: The Amanda Hat by Gina House
Yarn: Malabrigo Twist in #224 Autumn Forest
Needles: US8
Made for: RF
Timeline: November 11-12, 2010
Modifications: I followed juliebie’s modifications with three repeats of the lace pattern
Worst Part: It was too short the first time, so I had to re-do the top portion of the hat.
Best Part: I love the result of the modifications.
