Recently Socked

July 9, 2011

I finished a couple pairs of socks in June that I haven’t had a chance to post about yet.

First is Cranked, the Skacel knit along sock for April that I started in May and finished in June.

These went to a friend that normally doesn’t like to wear socks but needed to have this pair since the colorway has her two favorite colors in it. It turns out these are now her favorite pair of socks!

Pattern: Cranked by Michelle Hunter
Yarn: less than 1skein Trekking Maxima #906
Needles: US 0 Plymouth bamboo dpns
Made for: J
Timeline: May 3-June 5, 2011
Modifications: See my changes to improve the visibility of the stitch pattern here.
Worst Part: Having to make said modifications
Best Part: Having enough entries to be qualified for Skacel’s grand prize

The other sock that I finished in June is Rumpled, the sock that survived our car accident.

Isn’t the pooling on the foot crazy? I was hoping for an all-over mixed look, but I ended up with kinda-stripes and weird pools of purple. Oh, well. I’m still happy with the socks, and the Socktopus book is available for preorder now!

Pattern: Rumpled! by Alice Yu
Yarn: less than 1 skein Malabrigo Sock in #474 Caribeno
Needles: US 0 Hiya Hiya dpns
Made for: Test knit and Me
Timeline: May 13-June 16, 2011
Modifications: None
Worst Part: Seeing this project covered in windshield glass shards
Best Part: Test knitting for a book

There are lots more socks to come–it seems like I’m always casting on for another pair!

These are always so cute, but do they come any taller, like knee-high?

I don’t have any knee-highs in the works right now, but I do have some ankle socks going.
