UFO Mondays: Wanida and Kristi

June 16, 2014

Wanida socksI managed to finish these Wanida socks for Sweetie within a week despite their extra-large man size! He’s not much of a foot model, but he does appreciate a good pair of socks and wears wool ones year-round, so I try to make him a pair once in a while. This yarn has 25% bamboo content, which works really well for stinky feet (not that I’m accusing him of anything…). They must be pretty comfortable, too, since he didn’t rip them off right after taking these photos even though it’s warming up over here.
Wanida socksPattern: Wanida from Sock Innovation by Cookie A
Yarn: one skein Plymouth Rockin’ Sox #004
Needles: US 1 bamboo dpns
Made for: Sweetie & Class Sample
Timeline: 10 May 2009 – 15 June 2014
Modifications: none
Worst Part: my gauge tightened between socks
Best Part: these may be the best received socks I’ve knit for him yet
Kristi UFONext up and second to last in this Sock Innovation UFO project are the Kristi socks. There are traveling stitches on nearly every round of this pattern, so they’re slow going. Hopefully heading out of town for a couple days without my sewing machine will allow me to get them done.

Last seen: April 2009

Reason for abandonment: the Sock Innovation project  that resulted in a lot of single socks

Assessment: the key to working through a sock like this one is making sure to knit a little on it each day. Once I’ve picked it up, I normally get some substantial knitting in.
